One of my favorite kinds of blog posts to read are ‘Day In Our Life’ type posts, and after writing the ‘My Favorite Things About Being A Mama’ post yesterday, it made me want to document some of our daily life.
So here goes! A photo every hour / a day in our life:
4:40 a.m. – YESSS!!!! It’s early! I teach Jazzercise aerobics every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 5:30 a.m. I started Jazzercising with my mom in high school and loved it so much, I got certified to teach shortly after. It’s great, and it keeps me accountable and consistent. It’s early, but I swear, it’s the only time I have to work out. Stephen works out after the kids go to bed and I choose to workout before everyone wakes up.
6:40 a.m. – headed back home. I live about 20+/- minutes away from our center, so back I go. Stephen gets everyone up on the days that I’m teaching, so they’re probably working on getting up and breakfast going as I drive.
7 a.m. – Awww, just look at them! This is the scene of smiling faces that greet me when I walk in the door!
Emerson brings me immediately into the dining room to show me a picture of “Mama”. 🙂 Ok, buddy!
7:15 a.m. – I help get the posse out of the door and headed to their respective places. Stephen is the drop-off person (two different locations) and I’m the pick-up person on the workdays. Typically I work from home on Tuesdays/Thursdays but today I’m headed to check out some event venue sites in the Raleigh-area. (I work in the marketing/event planning realm for a Radiology Healthcare company)
I make my usual breakfast of eggs (2 full eggs and 3 egg whites) with half and avocado and TJs Everything But The Bagel Seasoning. I don’t have any salsa, so I add a little Taco Sauce … kinda the same thing, hehe.
FUN FACT: Our family goes through three 18 packs of eggs a week. That’s 54 eggs a week!!! Even the baby loves them and eats scrambled eggs for breakfast.
I log on and do a little bit of work before I head out for the day.
9 a.m. – Quick Starbucks run before I jump on the highway. BTW – if I’m doing a lot of walking in the day, I pack my heels and wear flats while traveling. Throw the heels back on when it matters!
10:30 a.m. – 1st stop – the Umstead Hotel & Spa. A favorite of mine. They always have the prettiest floral arrangement when you first walk in.
11:30 ish – lunch and all of the details
1 p.m. – heading to the North Carolina Museum of Art. Thinking about using this venue for a networking event, and it totally checks off all the boxes for me. They have good indoor & outdoor options and have a good reputation.
2:30 p.m. – Last stop is a venue I’ll choose not to mention because it did NOT check off all the boxes! You win some and you lose some! 2/3 good stops! Back on the road!
4:30 p.m. – Back to our hometown to pick up this cutie!
5:00 p.m. – and then this one at her sitter.
5:15 p.m. – the minute we get home, it’s on. Non-stop for the next few hours. Everyone wants something, they’re all starving, the dishwasher needs unloading and re-loading. Raise your hand if you wish you had a dishwasher fairy?!
5:30 p.m. – Kid’s dinners are ready (nothing too complicated tonight) and mama pours herself a glass of wine, because it’s been a long day! Daddy and mama eat leftovers from last night.
6:00 p.m. – No baths tonight, so we go to play for a bit. Elliott enjoys doing everything Emerson does. And we just follow Boss Baby (Emerson) around!
6:30 p.m. – We start the evening routines. Jammies (yes Elliott has boy jammies on, haha – cuz no one typically sees them, and we have lots of extras from big bro, so why not throw them in the mix?!) Teeth brushing happens. Emerson thinks he’s professional at it, but I have to intervene to make sure more is happening other than eating the toothpaste.
6:45 p.m. – Book reading. Then getting the littlest baby to bed. She’s usually asleep between 6:45-7 p.m. She’s always exhausted.
7:00 p.m. – 8 p.m. – is Emerson time. He’s the prince again, and we usually do special things with just him until bedtime.
8 p.m. – on (don’t worry, not tooo late, I mean did you see what time I got up???!) we just reset and get ready for the next day. Relax for a little bit and head on to bed! It’s busy and tiring, but it’s us and we wouldn’t change it for the world. 🙂
Looking forward to doing another one of these sometime in the future. It’s fun to look back at things!
