VBS 2021 ‘Heroes At Heart’

Emerson had an absolute blast at our church’s VBS 2021 which was superhero-themed – “Heroes at Heart”. They structured this VBS differently than in the past by offering three two-night sessions to keep the groups more spaced out. There was a special tribute to the church’s law enforcement officers, who are our local heroes that keep our community safe.

VBS – Vacation Bible School – allows children (and their families) to have a focused experience on developing their love of Jesus and receive Biblical direction as to how to live out this love in their life. The 2021 ‘Heroes at Heart’ Family VBS theme was jam-packed with Biblical-based song content that spoke to the inner superhero that lives in us through Jesus. There are crafts, activities and lessons included as well.

The below picture was this year’s craft. We stood in front of a green screen and one of the talented men at our church created these posters for us. We then received a frame with a matte to decorate and fix for our poster. Here is the digital file. We hung the frame in Emerson’s room.

Emerson was talking a lot to us about a girl he knew that was going to VBS. We assumed it was another 4 year old. Day 1 of the event, he was begging me to go talk to a girl who was on the stage. It turns out that the girl he couldn’t stop talking about (we think it is his first crush HAHA) is going into sixth grade!

This was Emerson and my first time attending a VBS and it won’t be our last! There is nothing like seeing Jesus shine a light in the little hearts. He is still singing the songs daily. He has found a little internal passion that he actually loves being on the stage (like mother like son) and he now participates as a “motion leader” during his Kid Street Church.

Isn’t this the sweetest pic you have ever seen?! ❤️ I might have to frame it.

We can’t wait for next year’s VBS event and to bring little sister and daddy!

xx,

Mallory
