We had a wonderful long weekend trip this past weekend with part of the Mast side of the family. We rented a cabin in Banner Elk, which is right outside of Boone, North Carolina. The cabin had recently been renovated and it was perfect with so many extra touches. The property had a river that backed up to it so we were able to take our shoes off and wade in over rocks with the kids. The property was fenced which was a plus. We spent a ton of time on the back deck that overlooked the river. There was a variety of seating out there and a hot tub and firepit off the porch.

We took the kids gem mining one of the days which proved to be the best little activity for them. $30 bucket of sand and gems well spent. 🙂

We did a little bit of hiking one afternoon on some trails near our rental.

I was honestly sad to leave on Sunday! We have another mountains trip to Tennessee planned in November, so this was a nice little tease for that longer trip.

Until next time!
xx,
Mallory
